Life Lesson #41

Go to the extra effort to make sure something does not get stuck in your garbage disposal. You Really Don’t want to see what is in there.

Rooster, now you know why my wife decided not to replace our old broken one.If you have a septic tank system, it will need to be cleaned more often.

Nah, if you don’t try to put everything leftover from Thanksgiving Dinner you’ll be fine. My folks have had one on a septic tank for a quarter century and have never had to have it cleaned. Disposals are good for letting you wash down the last of the potato peelings after you’ve scooped up the stuff easy to get to.
Our problem was that a baby food jar got in there and we didn’t know it. I pulled it out and dumped out the big chunks instead of trying to grind them all up. It sounded quite aweful.
Upside was I used the opportunity to turn the disposal around to the way I wished I’d put it in the first time. Now the drain tube is outta the way of some other stuff under the sink.
